After the first year of hunting future smart green maritime propulsion solutions, AENEAS partners met at Grimaldi headquarter in Neaples 21st/22nd March 2024.

Three industrial relevant use cases have been elaborated in rich detail fully backed with real operational data from different ships in operation on different routes. These use cases covering RoRo ferries of over 200m lengths transporting vehicles and goods over the oceans and as well as large Ropax cruise ferries for carrying people (and goods) along fixed destinations for example will guide the way for identification of substantial potentials for reducing emissions (especially CO2 footprint) in future ship operations. This will be achieved by e.g. systematic investigations of new battery cell chemistries like solid state and semi-solid state batteries for electric propulsion.
